A Very Good Homogenous Classic Continental Swept Hilt Rapier Circa 1625.

Long 43 and 3/4 inch wide diamond shaped rapier blade engraved with the “running wolf” of Solingen. Struck at the ricasso with blade smith’s mark. The complex swept hilt with four saltires and 12 and 1/4 inch crossguard. The guard enhanced with a shell with minor loss. The wire wrapped wood grip with two large “Turk’s” heads. Globose steel pommel with foot.

The hilt in good condition showing its 4 centuries of age with good exfoliation. The pommel in fine condition. The blade in excellent condition remains razor sharp. The upper “Turk’s” head loose.

This is a wonderful, classic rapier a full 52 inches overall that balances perfectly three inches forward of the guard. A fine addition to any collection of 17th century swords.
