A Fine and Rare Qajar Dynasty Royal Guard Axe Circa 1845.
The 7 and 1/2 inch crescentic blade is watered steel beautifully Damascened in gold with arabesques and diapered gold border. The hammer forged in the round as a peacock head with gold Damascened feathers. Faceted steel haft with facets Damascened in gold.
Condition is good overall with some surface rust. 27 inches overall.
This is a serious weapon and not the usual flimsy Qajar parade axe.
