A Fine And Most Attractive French Flintlock Naval Brass Barrel Blunderbuss Pistol Of Officer’s Quality Circa 1775.

Heavy 7 and 3/8th inch barrel. 70 caliber. The two stage barrel with cannon muzzle and re-inforced breech to accept a heavy charge. The breech beautifully engraved with a trophy of arms within a frame of scrolls and further enhanced with an additional raised area bordered by circular pellets. Plain brass single bolted lock with austere but well executed swan neck cock and frizzen. Bridled brass pan. Full brass mounts comprising molded and engraved side plate, triggerguard, two ramrod pipes, and engraved bird head brass pommel.

Dark walnut fullstock decorated with silver wire behind the breech tang. Brass tipped ramrod a good replacement, Barrel and mounts in fine original condition, Stock in excellent condition throughout. Silver wire with only minor losses. The hammer and frizzen deeply patinated consistent with marine service.
