A Fine And Scarce Indian Tulwar (Talwar) Kutch (Gurjaret) Western India Circa 1850.
31 and 1/2 inch Damascus blade with long central fuller under a shorter extremely narrow one. The blade with short panel of engraved half moons in the right fuller. One flaw on the left side of the blade 18 inches from the point.
Edge is very sharp and blade is in good condition. Classic talwar hilt in the Kutch style of beautifully engraved and gilded copper with leaves and blossoms on a ponced ground. Hilt is superb retaining nearly 100% bright original gilding. Period brown leather covered wood scabbard fits perfectly. This is a lovely example of a scarce Kutch talwar.
