This is a
North Italian or German Quality Rapier circa 1600.
It has an overall length of approximately 51 inches with an original length blade of approximately 44 inches.
The blade has extensive light to moderate pitting. Bladesmith marks are on both sides of the ricasso, a crown over "OTZ". There are also bladesmith markings in the central fuller.
This rapier has a beautifully chiseled hilt and a beautiful iron-wrapped grip with fancy Turks heads.
This is fresh to the market out of a 40-year-old collection.
