Cased Colt Root Revolver

3 and 1/2 inch octagonal barrel. .28 caliber.

Hartford address with “pointing hand” motif. Indian and cabin cylinder scene. A very fine example with the barrel and frame retaining 95% bright original bluing. The cylinder with 60% original blue mixing with brown but no pitting. Varnished figured walnut one piece grip with 80% original piano varnish with no dents and no appreciable wear. Bore is fine and action is excellent. Lever and hammer with some faded casehardening. All matching numbers.

This Root is a very fine one. Accessories comprise original Root flat screwdriver with 95% bright original blue, American Flask and Cap. Root flask with 80% original finish on body and no dents, brass .28 caliber Root mold stamped “Colt’s Patent” in fine condition. Original mahogany case in excellent condition with all original faded red velvet lining and most original varnish on mahogany.

This is an outstanding cased Colt and even has its original key. Will please any sophisticated collector of percussion Colt revolvers.
