An Outstanding American 5 Ball Guard Eagle Head Officer’s Saber Circa 1812 With Lovely Iridescent Blued And Gilt Blade Decoration In Its Original Scabbard.

The 27 inch broad saber blade retains most of its original vibrant blued and gilt decoration with only minor fading for nearly half its length, framing finely executed engraved and gilt trophies of arms and laurels. This is a saber and not the normally seen straight blade spadroon. Where it is not blued the blade retains some original bright polish.

The hilt features the highly sought after 5 ball guard ending in a fiercely proud American eagle head. The hilt and eagle show 60%+ of their original bright gilding. The beauty of the gilded brass is enhanced by the beautifully patinated, reeded bone grip.

This fine War of 1812 period saber retains its original patent leather scabbard and the original chape and locket show much original bright gilding. This beautiful sword is 33 inches overall and was doubtless carried with great pride by an American officer in the early and formative days of our nation.

It is all original and will appeal to even the advanced collector of early American swords
